Congratulations to our intern Cristina Brandon for winning the KTFMC Management Award!

During her time with us at Silver Springs, Cristina has gotten experience working with yearlings in sale prep, training horses and layups, and mares and foals.  Her favorite memories here on the farm included bringing in horses from turnout in the mornings and of the sunrises she got to see each day.  Cristina said that she learned the value of hard work, good communication, consistency, and follow through.  Her advice to future interns is to “Take this time to invest in yourself.  Have as many experiences as possible.  Set goals for yourself and do something to work towards those goals daily.  Having purpose is what will get you through the difficult days.  Work on yourself, but remember that it is not all about you.  Try to outwork and out serve your peers.  If something sparks your interest, run it down.”

Cristina plans to shadow Sophie Doyle, Marette Farrell, Cordell Anderson, Larry Walton, and John Rasmussen during her week of shadowing.  After spending some well-earned vacation time over the holidays visiting family in multiple states, Cristina plans to return to Kentucky and work as a stallion groom at Hill ‘N Dale.  Congrats Cristina and good luck in your future endeavors!
